The vast majority of travelers immediately think of the famous Niagara Falls when they hear "Niagara, Ontario," and rightfully so. For many years, tourists from around the world have booked Canadian vacations for the sole purpose of seeing this natural wonder.

While the Falls shouldn't be missed, travelers in the Niagara area won't need to spend their entire trip gaping at the massive waterfall. There's also plenty of chances to sample some of the unique flavors of the region, and the winter months are a great time to try them out.

Every weekend until April 10th, for example, the folks at White Meadow Farms will be serving up batch after batch of their famous pancakes drizzled in their homemade maple syrup. Many travelers might only want to visit Canada in the spring, but there's nothing like waking up to the smell of a pancake breakfast in the middle of winter.

The Niagara Icewine festival is another winter-only treat for guests. This weekend is the last one for the festival, which features some of the top wineries in the region producing some truly delicious wines. Icewines are made using frozen grapes, and give a distinctly different flavor that needs to be tasted to be understood.
