That's where the charming area of Niagara-on-the-Lake comes in. Not to be confused with the area surrounding the major tourist attraction Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake is a small town on the banks of the Niagara river that make the perfect setting for a girls' weekend or romantic getaway.
And what about the wine and chocolates? The town has that covered too. During the month of February, the city hosts the "Days of Wine and Chocolate" event every weekend. Twenty-five local wineries open their doors to travelers and offer up the very best combinations of wine and chocolate.
A single $30 pass gets visitors into every vineyard and allows them all the chocolate and wine that they can handle. Valentine's Day will be a great time to visit, but those who can't resist the temptation may just want to stay for the whole month so that they can be sure to sample everything.
