More interested in storm watching

For many vacationers, it seems contradictory to go toward the bad weather. But for others, storm watching is the newest trend in adventure travel, and tourists are booking vacations to places where they can see some of the coolest storms on Earth.
One of those places is Tofino, a small town on Vancouver Island in Canada. The unremarkable town saw a surge in travel when tourists got wind that the area was frequently hit with major storms.
Anne Banas of Smarter Travel magazine recently told ABC 7 News Los Angeles that many travelers were opting for places like Tofino.
"Sometimes if you look to bad weather for a great vacation, you can have a very incredible experience," she told the news source. Banas added that many travelers wanted a place where they could "watch thunder and lightning and rain and see enormous waves crashing on the shore."
Tofino storm watching has indeed taken off, with the small town seeing an increase in bookings in the past five years due to travelers wanting to see mother nature at work. British Columbia tourism recommends the months between November and March for travelers who want to partake.
