Railway Officials Expect To Reopen Track Outside Toronto After Accident
For travelers on a Canadian vacation, one of the more convenient and scenic ways to travel around the country is by rail. Unfortunately, a recent accident shut down a major portion of track just outside of Toronto.

Now, officials are saying that the track should be operational again later this week, according to the Vancouver Sun. On Sunday evening, a cargo train carrying jet fuel and propane derailed, leading to momentary panic for fear of an explosion. Approximately 20 homes located near the track were evacuated as a precaution. Fortunately, officials say that nobody was injured as a result of the accident.

Workers have since been able to clear the area of fuel, eliminating most of the danger. While the issue is dealt with, the company has suspended service from Toronto to Ottawa and Toronto to Montreal in both directions. Officials hope to reopen the track for travel on late Wednesday evening. In the meantime, existing tickets will be honored with alternative modes of transportation.

Authorities are investigating the incident, but still have yet to determine an actual cause for the derailment.
