Summer Activities Aplenty At Canada's Famous Ski Resorts

Canoe Travel recently profiled some of the top activities that travelers can partake in during the summertime at some of Canada's most famous resorts. For example, the Lake Louise Ski Area in Banff keeps the chairlift running all year long. You won't be able to ski back down in the summer, but the fourteen-minute journey to the peak of the mountain offers some of the best views in the entire country. You'll be able to spot Victoria Glacier, Bow Valley, the famous lake itself and perhaps even a grizzly bear or two.
At the world-famous resort in Whistler, British Columbia, many locals say that the summer is actually preferable to the winter. There's plenty of activities to engage in on the mountain, like biking and hiking, but the true draw here are the numerous competitions and events held in the summer, such as the Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival.
On the other side of the country in Blue Mountain, Ontario, a new attraction is transforming a ski slope into a bit of an amusement park. The Ridge Runner alpine roller coaster will take travelers all around the mountain, affording them some wonderful views and a thrilling ride.
