Tofino is typically known for its big waves and powerful storms, but this picturesque city on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, has become quite the Canada vacation destination. As such, a number of notable restaurants have sprung up, both independently operated and as part of the many resorts and hotels now in the area.

As a celebration of the burgeoning culinary scene, the first-ever Feast! Tofino-Ucluelet is set to kick off on May 8th. This month-long celebration is actually four festivals packed into one, with each week celebrating a different aspect of Tofino's seafood cuisine.

The first week is the Salmon Festival, while the Crab Festival kicks off May 15th. May 22nd marks the start of the Spot Prawn Festival, while the Food and Wine Festival begins on May 28th and runs until June 4th. Each of these events will contain demonstrations, classes and tastings by some of the best chefs in Tofino and beyond, with a focus on the "boat-to-table" reputation that the area's restaurants are known for.

"Feast! Tofino-Ucluelet is shaping up to be one of the most exciting culinary events in North America this year," said Rob Feenie, Canada's first "Iron Chef." "I am looking forward to participating in the celebration and working alongside such talented regional chefs to prepare memorable local and sustainable seafood cuisine."
