Travelers who choose Vancouver as their Canadian vacation destination will likely have a full itinerary every day, which means that they'll probably prefer to grab some food on the run rather than spend time sitting down in a restaurant. Fortunately, Vancouver caters exactly to this crowd with its recent wave of food trucks.

The food truck craze has overtaken both Canada and the U.S., reports the Vancouver Sun. Nineteen more trucks were just approved by the city, and officials hope to have up to 100 by the end of the year. Perhaps best of all, the food is all very high quality - budding truck owners must pass muster with professional chefs Vikram Vij and Karen Barnaby before the city will approve them.

In fact, the wave of trucks opening across the country prompted Food Network to start its own series called "Eat Street." Hosted by Canadian comedian James Cunningham, the show profiles the food served up by gourmet trucks across the globe.

Five British Columbia trucks made the show: Roaming Dragon and Japadog in Vancouver, Red Fish Blue Fish in Victoria, Feastro the Rolling Bistro in Gibsons and Tacofino in Tofino.

Vacationers looking for a quick yet delicious lunch while on their trips to B.C. may want to keep and eye out for these and other trucks serving up tasty treats.
