Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Vancouver
Welcome to Vancouver – the home of Fresh Tracks Canada! We love it here and we’re sure you will too! One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is surrounded by towering mountains and sparkling ocean. Overnight in Vancouver in a conveniently located airport hotel.

Day 2 – Vancouver to Quadra Island
Soar over islands, sea and mountains on route to Campbell River. Once in Campbell River, you will be transferred to Quadra Island, one of the northern Gulf Islands. Quadra is home to a lively, close-knit community from all walks of life and all parts of the world. This island is blessed with stunning natural beauty, beaches, parks, wildlife, and endless recreation adventure opportunities.

Day 3 – Your Kayaking Adventure Begins!
Rise and shine ready for adventure! Journey up Discovery Passage and safely through the Seymour narrows, renowned for its treacherous tidal flows and whirlpools. Look out for sightings of porpoises, dolphins, sea lions, and whales! Eventually you will arrive in Blackfish Sound and get acquainted with your camp. This evening, indulge in a fresh salmon dinner and enjoy the sunset from the hot tub before heading to bed for your first evening in the wilderness.

Day 4 – Kayaking Blackfish Sound
After a hearty camp breakfast, your kayaking adventure continues. Paddle to one of the many pocket beaches for a picnic lunch, along the way there are plenty of opportunities for stretching and snacks, as well as plenty of time to explore the intricate shoreline. For the very brave, there is always the option of a dip into the chilly waters of Blackfish Sound, before a restorative soak in the hot tub!

Day 5 – Kayaking Blackfish Sound
Today, a covered vessel takes you further into Blackfish Sound, giving you the opportunity to cover areas beyond the reach of your kayak. Return in time for lunch at basecamp and enjoy a leisurely afternoon kayak.

Day 6 – Kayaking Blackfish Sound and return to Quadra Island
Soak it all in on your final day of exploration of Blackfish Sound. After a morning paddle a water taxi takes you back to Quadra Island for the evening.

Day 7 – Quadra Island at Leisure
There’s always more time to enjoy your supernatural, beautiful BC surroundings. Quadra Island is yours to explore today – ask your Vacation Advisor for our Quadra Island Activity Menu for optional add-on adventures. Watch grizzly bears, rent a bike, go golfing, or embark on an exhilarating zodiac tour!

Day 8 – Quadra Island to Vancouver
You will be flying over the islands, sea and mountains once more as you return to the vibrant coastal city of Vancouver. Staying in a conveniently located airport hotel, you are just a quick ride away from downtown Vancouver. One of the most beautiful cities in the world, there is plenty to explore from historic Gastown to vibrant Granville Island Market, and of course Stanley Park - a green oasis on the edge of Vancouver’s bustling West End. There’s no shortage of things to do with your family on the last day of your vacation.

Day 9 – Depart Vancouver
With fond memories made, your Canadian adventure comes to an end.

Common Questions

Will it be cold when I visit Canada in summer?

The temperature varies from mild to hot, depending on location. Northern Canada will range between 50°F to 64°F (10°C – 18°C) in summer. The interior of BC, prairies, Ontario and Quebec can reach temperatures around 95°F (35°C). Canada's west coast, mountain regions, and Maritimes enjoy milder summer temperatures. They range on average from 59°F to 77°F (15°C – 25°C).

What are the best ways to travel around Canada on my vacation?

Canada has a network of spectacular roadways, train routes, ferry crossings, and float planes. We can arrange for you to travel by car or to sit back and relax.

Is it safe to drive in the mountains?

New visitors will drive with ease because of the wide and well maintained roadways. We'll ensure your trip includes the most spectacular and safest routes throughout your trip.

When is the best time to see wildlife?

That depends on the destination and type. As a rule, the main feeding and migration seasons are best for wildlife experiences. Tell us which animals interest you and we'll make your trip coincide with the best viewing season.

Are your tours escorted?

No, but you'll feel like it is with all your connections and experiences prearranged. Our clients love the freedom and flexibility it gives them. Some of our wildlife experiences are small group tours led by specialist guides.
