Itinerary

This tour can be customized to your needs, so please ask one of our local representatives for more information.

Day 1 – Arrive in Vancouver
Vancouver is considered to be one of the most desirable places to live in the world - it is rich with culture, art, cuisine and diversity while being surrounded by wild mountains, oceans and forests. Walk out of the airport and right into your own personal private vehicle. Your driver will help orient you to our hometown.

Feature Dinner in Vancouver
Did you know Vancouver is one of the top culinary destinations in the world? We want to make sure you don’t eat at the tourist trap restaurant across the street from your hotel, rather have the best dining experience in a beautiful setting. Included is a meal at a scenic waterfront location - one of our favorite dining spots!

Day 2 – Rocky Mountaineer Train – Vancouver to Kamloops
Climb aboard the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer train this morning and sip a steaming cup of coffee as you watch the skyscrapers of Vancouver disappear in the distance. Enter the lush and fertile Fraser Valley and head out onto the viewing platform of the train to enjoy panoramic views. Spend the night in the interior of British Columbia, enjoying the welcoming small-city hospitality of Kamloops.

Day 3 – Kamloops to Jasper
As the jagged peaks of the Rockies start to appear in the distance, the feeling of excitement and anticipation grows. Traveling closer on the train, you notice the enormous mountains dominating the horizon - their snow-capped tops pierce the blue sky. As the train carries you to Jasper, you will learn about the history of the Canadian railroad while keeping an eye out for Rocky Mountain wildlife. When you arrive in the quiet and peaceful mountain town of Jasper, you’ll enjoy a comfortable night in your hotel.

Day 4 – Maligne Lake
Spend the day exploring the jewel of the Rockies, Jasper.

You have
3 options to choose from today to help you enjoy Jasper to its fullest.

Option 1: Maligne Lake Cruise or Walk
Visit the beautiful natural wonder of Maligne Lake with your friendly local tour guide. Walk along Maligne Canyon, where the raging river has eroded the rock for thousands of years. Visit Medicine Lake and the tranquil blue-green waters of Maligne Lake, where you will take a boat cruise to scenic Spirit Island.
Activity rating: Easy

Option 2: Nature Walk
Track wildlife, admire rare alpine wildflowers, and see magnificent valley views with one of the best, hand-picked mountain guides in Jasper. Enjoy a leisurely pace, and plenty of time for photos and discussion.
Activity rating: Moderate (approx. 4 miles) - more challenging hikes are also available on request

Option 3: Sidecar Motorcycle Tour
Explore winding mountain roads and beautiful scenery on a thrilling sidecar motorcycle tour (for 1 or 2 passengers).
Activity rating: Easy

Day 5 – Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise
Today journey along the Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise, one of the most legendary mountain roads in the world. You’ll see aqua green lakes and rivers, glaciers, as well as wildlife.

Here are
2 options for exploring the Parkway:

• Option 1:
Small Group Sightseeing Tour
With a small group and guide, explore the Icefields and its main attractions. Stop to enjoy a picnic lunch, walk on the Athabasca Glacier, and marvel at the Glacier Skywalk.
Activity rating: Easy

Option 2: Private Icefields tour with Helicopter Experience
Spend the day with your own private guide, to explore the Icefields at your own pace. Then, step away from the crowds and take a helicopter tour to soar above pristine lakes, glaciers and waterfalls from an Icefields base.
Activity rating: Easy

Upon arrival in the Lake Louise area, you can either choose to stay at the iconic Chateau Lake Louise, or at the intimate Moraine Lake Lodge.

Feature Dinner in Lake Louise
No matter how you choose to tour, this evening you’ll relax and refresh with an indulgent dining experience. Surrounded by spectacular lake views and attentive service, indulge in a 3 course meal in Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise’s Fairview Dining Room, or Moraine Lake’s Walter Wilcox dining room.

Day 6 – Lake Louise
It’s up to you today... simply relax, soak in the views, and enjoy free time. Or, ask us for our Lake Louise Activity Menu, from which you can choose activities such as a guided hike, Lake Louise interpretive gondola ride, or Afternoon Tea at the Chateau.

In the afternoon you will head to the lively mountain town of Banff with your guide, on an interpretive transfer. Enjoy the happy and welcoming vibe here as you peruse the quirky boutiques of Banff Avenue or hike along the many scenic trails.

Day 7 – Exploring Banff
On a crisp Rocky Mountain morning you will wake up to the sounds of mountain songbirds before exploring this lovely town and the surrounding wilderness.

You have 3 options to choose from today to help you enjoy Banff to its fullest.

• Option 1: Banff Sightseeing Tour
Find out why Banff has become so famous - explore historic sights, hear the folklore, and visit the town’s beautiful view points on a 3 hour tour.
Activity rating: Easy

• Option 2:
Banff Photography Tour
Explore the wilderness of Banff National Park with a private professional guide, and learn how to take great photos or improve your camera skills. This is a sure way to make friends and family at home jealous!
Activity rating: Moderate (some walking involved)

• Option 3: Banff Alpine Walk and Picnic
Soar above majestic peaks and get away from the crowds of Banff on a guided heli-walk and picnic. Marvel at pristine and breathtaking vistas that will leave you speechless. Tours are also available with the picnic only.
Activity rating: Moderate

Insider tip: We’ve included admission to the Banff Gondola today. We recommend an evening gondola ride, once the crowds have dispersed for the day. As you glide through the air, the panoramic vistas at the summit will completely take your breath away.

Day 8 – Departing from Calgary
Say goodbye to the pristine and beautiful Rocky Mountains as you depart from Banff, heading to the Calgary airport. You have made some amazing memories over the past week that you will treasure for many years.

I knew we were in for something very special. When we gave our names to the person registering us, she greeted us with "Happy Anniversary!" During registration, a senior member of staff came to greet us, and asked us if we would like to blow the horn before departure. We were then escorted outside the building where we jointly practiced the foot pedal procedure on how to blow the portable horn. At exactly 7:20, the senior member in charge of registration and boarding asked all 600+ guests to come forward and with microphone in hand announced that it was our 60th anniversary and that we would blow the horn to signify that it was time to board the train….quite an honor. The entire trip on the train was glorious! The scenery was spectacular, the food excellent, and the staff well trained and friendly. You can be assured that we will recommend Fresh Tracks to any and all that wish to enjoy some of the world's most magnificent scenery. The lodges were very nice. I am wondering if you pulled some strings with the hotel in Banff, even though I made those reservations on my own, it surprised me we received such exceptional treatment.  Our room on the Gold Level 5th floor, had the best view of the Bow river, the falls and valley of any room on that floor.  And the bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries were in our room on arrival.  Several special desserts were prepared in our honor during our 4 day stay. The Sutton Place - WOW - what's not to like. The Rocky Mountaineer was exceptional: Silverleaf service worked great for us as we liked the flexibility to get up and down when we wanted; service was excellent (Blaine and Bernardo were a hoot!); could not ask for better food. Jasper was fun and we liked that our hotel (the Sawridge) was close enough to walk to town. Lake Louise had absolutely breathtaking views. The Fairmont was very classic and beautiful - although a little to stiff for my taste, it was VERY nice. Banff was better as we liked the Rimrock very much (rooms were larger, less formal). Loved the tours - so glad we were on the smaller vehicles and groups, it allowed us to spend more time at stops, had a picnic by the river and enjoy our drivers more. The only driver that was a little disappointing was a man in Jasper - he was from France and the sound system was bad so was very hard to understand at times. All the pick-ups were good and mostly on time (except for Jasper which was 30 min late). The boat ride to Maligne Lake, the all-terrain vehicle to the glacier and the gondola in Banff were all added highlights to an already beautiful experience. Trip was super, although the weather could have been a little better. We were prepared with rain gear, so still went on walks in light rain (Lake Louise and Stanley Park). All services were very good and very punctual. Appreciate... read more your services.

We just got back from our trip – it was beyond spectacular. What scenery! And everything worked out well. The hotel in Calgary was a disappointment. The location was perfect, but the bathroom was miniscule, the windows looked... read more like they had not been cleaned in years. It was a 2 star only. I would say the hotel in Banff was adequate however it was 1 mile walk to downtown which was ok but it would have been nice to be a little closer. Other than that, the train was wonderful, the Stampede great and we had a terrific time.

Thank you so much for making the trip so very special

Our trip was wonderful! We were so pleased and surprised that LaVern (and the rest of us) had special transportation help. She only had to get up the stairs on the large buses a few times. We both got upgraded at Lake Louise. Roger... read more and I were in a Jr. suite that faced the mountains! It was huge and had a livingroom with a dining corner. Oh, to be rich enough to always live like that! The lakes were absolutely beautiful and the weather was perfect on the trip. The few showers were while we were on the bus. Banff had 6 inches of snow the week before we were there, but it was high 70's for us. Thank you so much for making the trip so very special for us.

Our well-planned itinerary meant that no time was wasted

We had an absolutely marvelous time – and thank you very much for your large part in this. Every day was packed with the most beautiful scenery we could wish for and our well-planned itinerary meant that no time was wasted... read more – though we didn't feel rushed. In fact, while seeing and doing so much we also felt completely relaxed and quite blessed to be there in such glorious settings. The weather was great and we had the good luck to see quite a lot of wild life – 3 bears at different times, coyotes, mountain sheep, deer and hoary marmots. We love Canada! We had to wait several hours to check in at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and as we were really tired, my husband especially, this was disheartening. We had actually paid for the previous night (and then canceled), so, considering that our flight arrival time was known to you, it would have been good if the room could have been held for us for immediate check-in. Also, the hotel said they only had us booked in for one night. They sorted it out and we were okay, but it caused a bit of stress. I've had much experience with sloppy hotel bookings so I suspect that this fault is theirs and not yours. After that though, everything went very smoothly and I must say I am so impressed with the way you organized it all. Thank you very much. We will be in touch again I'm sure, to see more of Canada, and Alaska too.
